Internal rhyme is where words in the same line rhyme. I think I will use couplets as it is easier and the internal rymes makes the line a little bit too long. I have been working on the chorus of my song. I have been thinking of different words to use and how to rhyme them. I have had different ideas but have settled on a verse that I will use for now. I think I will have to change it because I have not decided how it will go into the bars of the beat. It has been difficult to come up with ideas on what the subject of the song should be because I can't think of what to right about my life. The hardest part of the song to come up with lines is the chorus. I try to do my songwriting in front of the computer as I can look at the rhyme dictionary to see what words I can use. I have constantly changed my lyrics as when ever I come up with an idea I change it afterwards. I have tries to make the lines rhyme to each other while still aming sense.

Verse 1

I grew up down under in Sydney

It was alright as I didn't have to sell my kidney

There was never any snow on the ground

And it took a long time to get around

Chorus

Just remember that you don't have to go all out

Do you even know what this is all about

If there is one thing I hate its when people always cheat

They ruin it for everyone and they are not elite

Verse 2

The new year came early every year at midnight

And life moved by slowly, not at the speed of light

Always taking the train, without having to pay

The shining sun bringing the heat during the day

Verse 3

I made the beat of this song using Myna

But what I really want is to go to China1

I have no idea what I'm gonna do

But I really don't like waiting in a queue

This is the beat from Myna

1111111111

The first theme we thought of was a school theme. Howveer we saw that some other groups were alsdoing this theme. So my group changed the theme to a construction site. We will be hamering on wood, drilling, lifting boxes, using a whistle and a helmet. I will be composing the drill part of the composition. We have decidied who will do what part. We do not know how the materials will sound so the first drafts we write for the composition will probably change. For two weeks we made the composition and After thinking and realising that we can not use the construction theme because we can not get the materials and do not know how they sound we decided to change the theme. Since we only had one week left, the group decided to meet after school on that last week to make a new composition. The new theme was a prison with someone whowas going to be executed. We made the composition together in that last week. We did not make the compsoition individually but we did it as a group. I think the performance went well a as we did it just as we practised and there were no mistakes. I think the main problem the group had was that we had to rush making the performance because we changed it very late. We should have used our time more efficiently and realise earlier that the theme had to be changed.

sound clip

Digital Hype Beat.wav-23790-Free-Loops.com by user9242937

Music

Reggae Music

Reggae is a music genre that was developed in the 1960s. It started in Jamaica but has spread around the world. Reggae developed from ska and rocksteady music, which are also from Jamaica. It was heavily influenced by African and Caribbean music. Reggae is usually played on the offbeat and uses a variety of instruments such as guitar, bass, keyboard, drums and horns. It also uses vocals. The bass is very dominating and along with the drum provides the rhythm. Reggae is usually played in 4/4 but can be played in swing time. Reggae is usually sung is Jamaican English or Jamaican Patois. Bob Marley was born in Jamaica in 1945 and is the most famous Reggae performer. He was the lead singer, guitarist and songwriter for the Bands “The Wailers” and “Bob Marley & the Wailers.” Both of these bands were Reggae, ska and rocksteady. Bob Marley helped to spread Jamaican music to a worldwide audience. Bob Marley died in 1981 at the age of 36. The bestselling Reggae album is Bob Marley’s “Legend”, which has sold over 20 million copies.

No Woman No Cry

It is a song written by Bob Marley or Vincent Ford. It is Reggae and is one of Bob Marley’s most famous songs. Bob Marley is the main singer and his singing, along with bass and drums are the main part of the song. I liked this song but not as much as “I Shot the Sheriff” because the music was quite slow.

I Shot the Sheriff

It is a reggae song written by Bob Marley, which was released in 1973. It is also Reggae and another of Bob Marley’s most famous songs. Bob Marley is the main singer. It is about someone who admits to shooting a sheriff but is also accused of shooting a deputy however he denies it. I liked this song because the music is more happy and upbeat.

Reflection

In this unit I think we are going to learn about Reggae music and how it is performed. I will also learn to play a instrument better as we have to perform in a band. I will get to practise on the instrument.

So far in the middle of the unit I have learned to play all versions of the drums part by myself. I have to practise more with the group so I learn the speed. I need to listen to the group so I know how fast or slow I have to play. I think I was playing too fast during the rehearsal.

I have now finished practising and have performed the final performance.

Adrian Chiriac
28.01.10
MYP4

Aston Martin
